HOUSE EXPECTED TO MARK UP FARM BILL NEXT WEEK Jun. 19, 2012
BrownfieldAgNews reports:
The House Agriculture Committee continues to work on a draft version of a farm bill while Capitol Hill observers expect debate on the Senate Farm Bill to take a back seat to a host of other issues this week, including reaction to President Obama's executive order on immigration.
A House Ag Committee spokesperson tells Brownfield that Chairman Frank Lucas remains focused on marking up a House Farm Bill before the July 4th recess.
As for the Senate farm bill, unless an agreement is reached on the numerous amendments to the measure, it is expected Majority Leader Harry Reid could file cloture on the bill early this week.
