ASSN OF EQUIPMENT MFGRS APPLAUDS SENATE PROGRESS ON FARM BILL, WARNS OF HARMFUL AMENDMENTS
Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) reports:

As the U.S. Senate moved forward in general debate on the 2012 Farm Bill, Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) President Dennis Slater sent a letter to all Senators applauding their progress towards completion and laid out a number of concerns regarding amendments up for consideration.

On behalf of its more than 850 member companies, AEM is pleased to see Congress working together to pass a farm bill this year. With hundreds of thousands of jobs across the country directly and indirectly supported by the agriculture manufacturing industry, passing a strong farm bill is vital to our economy and our country.

In his letter to the Senate, Slater warns that several of the amendments being considered when "taken in their totality, would jeopardize the farm bill's value in providing a critical and much needed safety net for our food, fiber, feed and fuel worldwide."

To view the full letter and particular amendments of concern, click here or visit www.aem.org in the Advocacy & Legislation/Communications with Congress section.
