CANADIAN GRAIN COMMISSION ANNOUNCES GRADING CHANGES TO EASTERN GRAINS FOR 2012-13

The Canadian Grain Commission announces the introduction of new food class of Barley, Canada Western/Canada Eastern that comes into effect on July 1, 2012.

At the same time, the hulless class for Barley, Canada Western/Canada Eastern are removed. Hulless and covered grades will be included for all classes of barley: food, malting and general purpose.

Other grading changes that took effect July 1, 2012, include:

* Revised Cleaning for Grade Improvement procedure for Barley, Canada Western/Canada Eastern

* For Lentils, Canada Red:

-- New colour definition
-- New tolerances for copper and bleached seeds
-- New wrinkled seed tolerances

* Revised heated tolerances in Canada Eastern Feed Wheat
