Jul. 6, 2012 BrownfieldAgNews reports: The USDA Agriculture Marketing Service (AMS) says hay is "virtually unavailable" in Missouri now. In the weekly hay report - it says bales considered too expensive a few weeks ago have now been taken at the asking price. The continued widespread drought has made finding hay from outside the state also difficult. This week's crop progress report shows more than three-fourths of Missouri's pastures in poor to very poor condition. AMS says the crop report also raises concerns of stock water supplies running short and all crop conditions in the state declining. Subsoil and topsoil moisture continue to decline and temperatures continue to be way above normal. Tweet |
