NEARLY HALF OF ILLINOIS' CORN CROP RATED POOR, VERY POOR
BrownfieldAgNews reports:

The condition of the Illinois corn crop declined further this past week. Continued hot and dry weather persisted over much of the state.

As of Sunday, 77% of corn had silked and 8% was at the dough stage, well ahead of last year at this time. But corn conditions dropped and nearly half of the crop (48%) is either poor or very poor.

42% of the Illinois soybean crop was blooming, three times more than last year. 42% of soybeans are in good to excellent condition.
