USDA: 15% OF CORN, 4% OF SOYBEANS HARVESTED ALREADY

USDA reports the 2012 corn harvest is moving along and the soybean harvest is getting underway.

The Ag Department states 15% of the corn crop is harvested as of Sunday, compared to 5% both a year ago and for the five year average. 93% of the crop has dented, compared to 80% last year and 77% on average, while 58% has reached maturity, compared to 25% a year ago and 27% on average. 22% of corn is in good to excellent condition with 52% rated poor to very poor, unchanged on the week.

4% of this year's soybean crop is harvested, compared to 1% last year and 2% on average, and 36% is dropping leaves, compared to 12% a year ago and 20% on average. 32% of soybeans are called good to excellent, up 2% on the week, and 36% are in poor to very poor shape, down 1%.

4% of the winter wheat crop is planted, compared to 5% a year ago and the five year average of 6%.

18% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent condition, 1% above last week, with 58% rated poor to very poor, 1% less than a week ago.
