USDA UPDATES CROP CONDITIONS, HARVEST PROGRESS REPORT
BrownfieldAgNews reports:

USDA reports another week of good corn and soybean harvest progress, with faster than average development and slight improvements in crop condition ratings.

As of Sunday, 97% of the U.S. corn crop is dented, compared to 89% this time last year and the five year average of 87%, while 76% of the crop has reached maturity, compared to 40% a year ago and 41% on average. 26% of corn is harvested, compared to 8% last year and 9% on average. 24% is rated good to excellent, up 2% from a week ago, and 50% is in poor to very poor shape, down 2%.

57% of soybeans are dropping leaves, compared to 28% last year and 37% on average, and 10% is harvested, compared to 4% for both a year ago and the five year average. 32% of soybeans are called good to excellent, a 1% improvement, and 36% is in poor to very poor shape, unchanged on the week.

11% of the winter wheat crop is planted, compared to 11% a year ago and 14% on average.

19% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent condition, up 1% from last week, and 56% is called poor to very poor, down 2% from a week ago.
