SEABOARD NEARS COMPLETION OF 60-BARN HOG FACILITY IN KANSAS
BrownfieldAgNews reports:

Seaboard Foods is nearing completion of a new 60-barn hog farm near Tribune in southwest Kansas.

The new facility is expected to begin operation in early October.

Seaboard received permits to build 120 barns at that location, but only 60 barns have been constructed at this time. Each barn will house more than one-thousand hogs. Officials say the farm will have 10 to 12 employees.

The hogs will be processed at Seaboard's plant in Guymon, Oklahoma.

Seaboard produces about four million hogs each year. It is the second-largest pork production company in the U.S. behind North Carolina-based Murphy-Brown LLC.
