Oct. 9, 2012 BrownfieldAgNews reports: The 2012 World Dairy Expo Dairy Woman of the Year is Mary Shank Creek who milks about 175 cows at Hagerstown, Maryland. The herd is predominately registered Ayrshires but they do have some Holsteins. They are about 75 miles from Baltimore and Washington D.C. Palmyra Farm is co-owned by Mary, her brother and their spouses, they show registered Ayrshires at a number of shows including World Dairy Expo and they market genetics around the globe. She is a dairy show judge and promotes the Ayrshire breed, has been involved in a number of youth programs and is very involved in the World Dairy Shrine. She sees a bright future for Ayrshires and the dairy industry in Maryland. Tweet |
