ST. LOUIS AGRIBUSINESS CLUB ANNOUNCES ITS AG LEADER OF THE YEAR AWARD RECIPIENT

St. Louis AgriBusiness Club reports:
John M. Shimkus is serving his 8th term in Congress and represents the 19th District of Illinois, one of the largest geographic districts east of the Mississippi River, stretching from the metro-east region of St. Louis to the state capital in Springfield and down to Metropolis along the Ohio River.
John has served in the Army, as a high school teacher, a county treasurer, and now as a representative in the United States House. Among his duties in Congress, John serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee. He is the chairman of the Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy. In addition, he serves on the Subcommittees on Energy and Power; Health; and Communications and Technology.
"There is not a member of the United States Congress who has had a greater impact on the well-being of the agriculture industry in the MetroEast than Representative Shimkus," St. Louis AgriBusiness Club Past-President Molly Cline said.
"Congressman Shimkus listens to the needs of the agriculture industry, and then he tells our story on the House floor, in the Energy and Commerce Committee upon which he serves, and throughout the halls of Washington. We are proud to recognize the Representative with our highest honor in appreciation of his service to the men and women of agriculture."
