Jan. 22, 2013 Red River Farm Network reports: The Minnesota Crop Improvement Association (MCIA) has honored Jim Palmer as its Honorary Premier Seedsman. Palmer is the former executive director of the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association. Palmer, who now serves as a business consultant, credits the Minnesota Crop Improvement Association for its visionary approach. "If it weren't for the association and the dollars that were generated to go into the research program, you wouldn't see Minnesota being the number three soybean producing state," Palmer said, "nor would you see some of the other activities that the other commodities are benefiting from by having a strong crop improvement association and a public research program." MCIA also recognized Mary Hanks with with the Honorary Premier Seedsman Award. Hanks is the director of the Agricultural Marketing and Development Division at the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.
