FIRST DELIVERIES OF GENUITY DROUGHTGARD HYBRIDS TAKE PLACE IN TEXAS
Source: Monsanto news release

Farmer Edward Polasek received one of the first deliveries of DEKALB Genuity DroughtGard Hybrids at his farm in Tynan, Texas, this week.

New this season, this corn product is Monsanto's latest tool to help farmers manage drought conditions. With the effects of last season's drought still being felt in many states, farmers are looking for ways to help mitigate risk. Farmers like Polasek have selected DEKALB drought-tolerant corn plants with deep, strong root structures to help withstand drought conditions and reduce yield loss.

In 2012, Polasek was one of approximately 250 leading, innovative farmers across the Western Great Plains selected to test this product through a trial program known as Ground Breakers. Polasek is the first Ground Breakers participant to receive his shipment of DEKALB DroughtGard Hybrids for 2013 planting.

DroughtGard Hybrids combine the DEKALB brand's drought-tolerant genetics, developed through the brand's industry-leading breeding program, with the industry's first drought-tolerant biotech trait and agronomic practices. This combination will mean the potential for even more powerful yield protection for DEKALB farmers in 2013.

For the 2013 season, Western Great Plains farmers will have the first opportunity to plant DroughtGard Hybrids through a stewarded commerical introduction.
