Mar. 5, 2013 Source: Growers Edge news release As drought conditions persist, Growers Edge™ (www.growers-edge.com) has launched new weather reporting technology. The Weather Report tracks current rainfall totals for the past 24 hours, 25 to 48 hours, 49 to 72 hours, and the current and previous months. Reports can be generated for precipitation by day, month, planting date and year-over- year. Farmers can track details for up to five farm locations and pinpoint specific fields within each farm location. Farmers can view precipitation amounts for exact location(s), as opposed to the closest weather station. "The drought that affected many farmers last year and continues to linger has everyone concerned about how it may affect growing condition again this year," said Craig Mouchka, president of Growers Edge. "This new technology provides field by field weather reporting that goes far beyond a precipitation measurement. It's a free service and the automatic reports are delivered to the farmer's email account, helping to save time." Growers Edge users can easily uncover critical information such as rainfall, weather forecasts, storm events and growing degree days for each farm in one convenient email. Other features include: Tracks multiple farms and fields, saving time from having to drive to each of farm to discover precipitation received. Tracks precipitation by field since plant date and provides interactive reports, such as daily and monthly precipitation, year-over-year precipitation, and historic data dating back five years, area soil moisture and temperature measurements, the upper and lower layer soil moisture levels taking evaporation into consideration. Real-time rainfall reporting and up-to-date rainfall amounts with email notification. View year-over-year precipitation results for each farm to quickly uncover precipitation trends. Hour-by-hour forecast including current conditions, precipitation probability, temperature, wind speed and direction, as well as a five-day forecast. Growing degree days (GDD) to track crop progress - current and past GDD amounts - for each field using an advanced GDD tool. Indications when hail events have impacted a farm allowing farmers to quickly uncover storm events throughout the growing season with historical reports.
