Since 1999, Benchmark Holdings has partnered with scientific centers of excellence, governments, NGOs and the private sector to find new ways to meet the challenges of global supply chains. These new hire announcements signal Benchmark's resolve to help drive innovation and sustainability across animal, fish and crop production through trie's sustainability design and 5m's premium international news and information sites. "We are gearing up our US business divisions with two key hires - experts who will add value to clients and the sectors we work in," says Roland Bonney, co-founder of Benchmark Holdings. "The Benchmark businesses are positioned around sustainable global food production. Using the 3Es - economics and environment and ethics - Benchmark combines expert knowledge, scientific measurement and practical methodology to help make sustainability something people, farmers and ranchers, companies and governments do as part of their every day lives." Anita Geddes-Vanderwert joins the business team as Head of Sales - The Americas. Vanderwert will focus on sales for 5m's premium international news and information channels - ThePigSite.com, ThePoultrySite.com, TheCropSite.com, TheCattleSite.com, TheFishSite.com, TheMeatSite.com and ElSitioAvicola.com. She will also cross-promote all other Benchmark businesses - trie, FAI Farms, RL Consulting, Fish Vet Group and Benchmark Vaccines. Prior to Benchmark, Vanderwert had an 18-year career with Learfield Communications, most recently as National Director of Agricultural Accounts for Brownfield Ag News. Prior to Learfield, she worked for National Cattleman's Association, American-International Charolais Association and various marketing agencies. Anita will continue to be based in Columbia, Mo., where she and her family raise Angus and Hybrid bulls and replacement heifers. Řistein Thorsen joins Benchmark as Principal Consultant for trie, based in New York City. Thorsen's role will be to help trie partners establish, maintain and communicate tailored sustainability programs with the aim of creating healthier businesses. Prior to joining trie, Thorsen was the Deputy Head of Arms Control for Oxfam International, where he worked for the creation of a global arms trade treaty at the United Nations in New York. Thorsen has also worked on agricultural trade, fair trade and access to medicines for Oxfam while based in the UK. He holds an MSc in International Political Economy from the London School of Economics (LSE) and a BA in African Studies and Development Studies from the SOAS at the University of London. "At trie, we design sustainability programs as iterative processes for businesses and organizations," Bonney said.
