WEBINAR ON SURVEY OF CONSUMERS ON WHAT BUYING "LOCAL" MEANS ANNOUNCED
Source: Univ. of Florida Extension

Wednesday, March 20, 2 - 3 pm Eastern

What does 'local food' mean to consumers?

Join this session, which discusses the results of the PIE Center's first Specialty Crops Block Grant, to learn about one of the first research efforts aimed at better understanding consumers' local food purchasing behaviors and patterns, the economic impacts of local food, and consumer perceptions of local food.

Learn what Floridians buy, as well as the branding and marketing potential for small and large-scale producers of local food.

This moderated panel will give researchers and practitioners an opportunity to explain the study's implications for Florida communicators, policy makers and growers.

Our speakers:

• Rachel Divine, Research coordinator, PIE Center

• Dr. Alan Hodges, Extension scientist, Food and Resource Economics Department, University of Florida

• Sonia Tighe, Executive director, Florida Specialty Crop Foundation
