INDIANA CCA DAYS RETURN TO PURDUE, OFFER LATEST AGRONOMIC UPDATES
Source: Purdue University news release

Indiana's Certified Crop Advisers will have three chances to hear the latest information on agronomic topics and earn continuing education credits during Indiana CCA Days in August.

The one-day workshops will be Aug. 6 at the Northeast-Purdue Agricultural Center in Columbia City, and Aug. 7 and 8 at Purdue's Agronomy Center for Research and Education in West Lafayette.

All three workshops will focus on fertilizer regulations, cover crops, weed resistance, soybean yield management, corn and soybean fungicides and insect seed traits. Speakers include both Purdue Extension and industry experts.

"Indiana CCA Days offer crop advisers time to learn more about what's going on in the fields and to get close to Purdue's latest agronomic research," said Corey Gerber, director of the Purdue Crop Diagnostic Training and Research Center. "The workshops provide timely information on current crop problems and how to manage those problems.

"The goal is for CCAs to get the information they need to go into the fields and educate crop producers and other agribusiness professionals."

Workshop topics and presenters:

• "Update on Fertilizer Regulations" by Matt Pearson, Indiana State Chemist Office.

• "Progress of Cover Crops in Indiana" by Dan Towery, Indiana Cover Cropping Systems Initiative.

• "Update on Weed Resistance in Indiana" by Bill Johnson and Travis Legleiter, Purdue Extension weed scientists.

• "Standard vs. Intense: Kitchen-Sink Management to High Soybean Yields?" by Shaun Casteel, Purdue Extension soybean specialist.

• "Update on Corn and Soybean Fungicides" by Kiersten Wise, Purdue Extension plant pathologist.

• "Wonderful World of Insect Seed Traits" by Christian Krupke and John Obermeyer, Purdue Extension entomologists.

All three workshops run from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

More information and registration forms have been mailed to Indiana CCAs and should be returned to Lisa Green, 915 W. State Street, West Lafayette, IN 47907. Questions can be directed to Green at 765-494-4783, lgreen06@purdue.edu.

Registration is limited to 60 participants per workshop. Fees are $55 per person for Indiana CCAs and $110 per person for non-Indiana CCA members. The fees include lunch, refreshments and educational materials.

Attendees can earn one continuing education unit each in nutrient management, soil and water management, and pest management, and three units in crop management.

The Northeast-Purdue Agricultural Center is at 4821 E. 400 S., Columbia City.

Purdue's Agronomy Center for Research and Education is at 4540 U.S. 52, West Lafayette.
