Aug. 14, 2013
Source: Farm Progress
If a day at the Farm Progress Show only brings to mind visions of tractors and corn plants, then head to the northeast corner of the grounds to check out the livestock area. Livestock producers will find livestock exhibits and displays, working cattle demonstrations plus horse clinician Tommy Garland. The Farm Progress Show is scheduled for August 27, 28 and 29 in Decatur, Ill.
Cattle producers interested in the newest cattle handling equipment can compare several different chute manufactures during cattle handling demonstrations held twice daily at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on the northeast exhibit field between Ninth and Tenth Streets.
The cattle handling demonstrations are the place to see the equipment at work in side-by-side comparisons of chutes, scales, portable fencing and pens. Livestock exhibits have been grouped together in the southeast corner of the exhibit field. Walk through the Livestock Industries tent and then visit the outdoor livestock exhibits to discover all the latest innovations in equipment.
Tommy Garland, Horse Training Demonstrations
The Farm Progress Show, along with Morton Buildings, is proud to have Tommy Garland present his horsemanship demonstrations during the show. Garland will be holding his demonstrations on the Morton Buildings exhibit located at the intersection of Sixth Street and Central Avenue on lot #643. Garland will present a morning session beginning at 11:00 a.m. and an afternoon session at 2:00 p.m.
Tommy Garland has ridden horses all of his life and credits his trainer father, also named Tommy, with teaching him much of what he learned early on about horsemanship. Tommy had spent the past 30 years training not only Arabians and Half-Arabians, but Quarter Horses, Tennessee Walking Horses, Paints and Mules, as well. His techniques have been universally accepted, respected and utilized by horse owners of all breeds and disciplines.
Confidence, patience and respect (CPR) has been Garland's approach to horse training. Over the last 25 years, Tommy has applied his CPR Horsemanship philosophy to his own professional career and has proven its success with multiple National and International Championship titles in both Western Pleasure and Hunter Pleasure.
