IOWA'S LEADERS HOLD EVENT TO DEFEND ETHANOL, LAUNCH SUPPORT RFS WEBSITE
BrownfieldAgNews reports:

Top political leaders in Iowa are coming to the defense of ethanol and the Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS).

Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley and Congressman Steve King are among those who participated in a "Defend the RFS" event last Friday at the Lincolnway Energy ethanol facility in Nevada, IA. They called for the EPA to modify its recent proposal to lower the ethanol volume requirements in the RFS.

In addition, Branstad has launched a new web site called "Protect the RFS" where he is collecting comments on the RFS that will be sent to the EPA.

Branstad calls the EPA's move "a terrible decision". He says it will "increase America's dependence on foreign oil" and "hurt American families by decreasing the value of commodities, increasing prices at the pump, eliminating thousands of jobs and sink the price of corn below the cost of production."
