BrownfieldAgNews reports:

MFA Oil Company has acquired Smoky Mountain Propane, which is based in North Carolina.

Mark Fenner, the CEO at MFA Oil, acknowledges that the Smoky Mountain Propane acquisition is new market territory for MFA, adding that it fits well with expanding the cooperative's footprint.

Smoky Mountain Propane has been in operation for 12 years. Its current owners, Darrell and Lisa Pruett, will continue to manage it, serving the three North Carolina counties where it currently does business.

This is the sixth acquisition for MFA Oil since January. The farmer-owned cooperative based in Columbia, Missouri, acquired four petroleum related companies in Missouri, as well as a fifth based in Kansas. The six acquisitions increase MFA Oil's annual volume by nearly 51 million gallons.

MFA Oil was formed in 1929 and is one of the top ten propane companies in the U.S. MFA supplies fuels, lubricants and propane to customers in eleven states.
