On January 1, 2014 Continental Commercial Specialty Tires has appointed Thorsten A. Bublitz as new Business-Line Manager Agro. In this role he will be supervising the international expansion of all agricultural activities.

In addition to his comprehensive sales background with agricultural tires Bublitz also has longstanding experience with the Continental AG. He reports to Dr. Michael Maertens, Managing Director of the business unit Continental CST.

"With Thorsten A. Bublitz we gained an international experienced manager for our agricultural product", says Maertens. "We will extend and enlarge our product range and customer service portfolio in the next years. Our strategy is to offer customized solutions for special requirements in promising markets.

The growth market for agricultural equipment is one of the segments, where our clients benefit from our many years of experience and worldwide capabilities." In 2013 Continental CST has already launched a new tire portfolio for the harbor business and committed significant investments for the underground mining product portfolio over the next years.

Bublitz joined Continental from the SGL Group Wiesbaden, Germany where he was since 2007 responsible for graphite electrodes in the EMEA region - first as Key Account Manager and later as Director Sales and Technical Service. Between 1983 and 2004 he already worked 20 years for Continental AG, in his last position overseeing sales and marketing for Continental agricultural tires.

Between 2004 and 2007 he was head of Marketing and Sales Agro Tires of Ceska Gumarensks Spolecnost in Prague, Czech Republic. In this position he was also Managing Director Marketing and Sales CGS Reifen Deutschland GmbH in Hanover, Germany. Bublitz holds a degree in Business Administration (VWA) and completed a training as industrial manager at Continental AG.

With provisional sales of around €33.3 billion in 2013, Continental is among the leading automotive suppliers worldwide. As a supplier of brake systems, systems and components for powertrains and chassis, instrumentation, infotainment solutions, vehicle electronics, tires, and technical elastomers, Continental contributes to enhanced driving safety and global climate protection. Continental is also an expert partner in networked automobile communication. Continental currently has more than 177,000 employees in 46 countries.

As one of the world's leading tire manufacturers, with more than 42,000 employees, the Tire division achieved preliminary sales of €9.7 billion in 2012. Today, the division has 22 production and development locations worldwide. The broad product range and continuous investments in R&D make a major contribution to cost-effective and ecologically efficient mobility.

The Commercial Vehicle Tire business is one of the largest manufacturers of truck, bus and specialty tires worldwide.

Continental's Tire Division is an Official Sponsor of the German DFB Cup, 2014 FIFA World CupTM in Brazil and the UEFA EURO 2016TM in France.
