Source: Iowa State University news release

The 2014 North Central Aquaculture Conference will be held Feb. 22-23 in Toledo, Ohio. The conference is presented by the North Central Regional Aquaculture Center (NCRAC) and the Aquaculture Associations of Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.

"This meeting is an opportunity for all members of the regional aquaculture industry to interact and to learn about current and future opportunities in the industry," said Joe Morris, director of the North Central Regional Aquaculture Center and professor of natural resource ecology and management at Iowa State University.

The two-day program will feature industry, academic and agency experts from across the Midwest leading discussions on fish and shrimp culture, nutrition, health, aquaponics, technology, laws and emerging issues and opportunities. Objectives of the conference are to:

Provide relevant information for culture operations to positively enhance the economic bottom line.
Provide technology transfer of NCRAC-funded research projects to the North Central region aquaculture community.
Provide networking opportunities between industry, aquaculture associations, agencies and academia to strengthen cooperation and advance North Central regional aquaculture.
Connect industry to the wide array of vendors available to support their culture operations.

An aquaculture trade show will accompany the event, giving attendees additional opportunities to gain insight on products and services to enhance operations.

The conference registration fee is $75 prior to Feb. 14. Hotel rooms are available at The Hotel at the University of Toledo Medical Center for $95 a night prior to Feb. 6.

Visit the conference website for more detailed registration and hotel information, http://ohioaquaculture.org/events.html
