"Mastering the News Media"

Building Relationships with the Media and understanding the keys to getting your messages delivered

Through an interactive format designed to engage the participants you will effectively learn:

How to develop a proactive media and publicity strategy

What benefits you can expect from "earned media"

How to prepare news releases and key messages to communicate

How to negotiate and get prepared for interviews

How to control the interview process

Learn about what the media want, how they manipulate the process to get it, what they will do with it, and how to prevent getting burned.

Learn about the questioning techniques media uses and how to answer the dreaded questions effectively.Learn about body language and how you can master what your body is saying.

Participate in on-camera simulated interviews.

You will receive workbooks, checklists, procedures and templates in your hand-out packages

About the principal instructor - Nicole Harris

As a former television news anchor and reporter, Nicole Harris, takes a strategic, journalistic technique to providing a dynamic, practical approach to dealing with and communicating through the media. In her 14 years in journalism, Nicole has worked as a main anchor, reporter and producer in Canada.

Her expertise and experience has given her the "inside scoop" on how to make sound judgments on what is newsworthy and what is best not promoted throughout the news media. An expert in media and communications training, Nicole has developed and delivered a wide range of courses for government, corporate and institutional clients in Canada and the United States.

Doors open at 8:00 a.m. with coffee and danish. Following the workshop we will have lunch at noon followed by a panel discussion with media representatives to discuss the workshop and address any of your questions on publicity and your business interests.
