AG COUNCIL OF AMERICA NAMES EASTIN AWARD RECIPIENT

The Agriculture Council of America (ACA) has named Lindsay McQueen, Farm Bureau as the Charles Eastin Award Recipient for 2014. The Eastin Award is honors an outstanding individual who stands out as an advocate for accurate communications between rural and urban audiences. The award will be presented in Washington, DC on National Ag Day, March 25, 2014.

McQueen has been promoting agriculture and actively involved with agriculture industry her entire life. She has worked for the Farm Bureau for seven years and has been the Union and Jackson County Farm Bureau Manager for four years. She was actively involved in 4-H and FFA all throughout her childhood and high school career and still volunteers with both groups.

Throughout McQueen's career she has conducted multiple meetings in efforts to improve the quality and everyday lifestyle within the agriculture Industry. She has hosted and continues to host seminars with leading speakers from top competing companies in efforts to address topics for their production and/or facility.

On a state and national level she has been involved in different branches of the Agriculture Industry such as farming, agri-business, livestock, crop, and vegetable production. She has always taken the initiative to go above and beyond to make sure that she is helping an industry she not only works in but lives, breathes, and loves.

McQueen volunteers her time by lending a hand at the Murphysboro, IL pet adoption facility. She teaches Ag in the Classroom, along with being a guest speaker at universities, high schools, and for multiple organizations.

She hosts events at both of the Farm Bureau locations she manages. Through spreading the message about agriculture, Lindsay has seen both of her Farm Bureau locations grow through member involvement.

This honor was previously awarded by the National Farm City Council. The Agriculture Council of America assumed the assets and selected programs of the National Farm-City Council, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing links between farm families and urban residents.
