UPDATE ON CROPLIFE AMERICA/AMERICAN SEED TRADE ASSN'S GUIDE TO SEED TREATMENT STEWARDSHIP
Jay Vroom, CropLife America (CLA) President/CEO reports:

As corn and soybean planting season approaches, I'd like to briefly update you on our year-long "Guide to Seed Treatment Stewardship" campaign activities and urge you to share this information with your customers.

Developing the Guide, a website and partnerships with national grower associations was part of the initial phase of this campaign.

The second phase has focused on promoting seed treatment stewardship at the state level.

Over the past several months, we have created video and print materials for applicators, farmers and pesticide safety educators for presentations at meetings of state grower and agribusiness associations, and for inclusion in pesticide applicator re-certification curricula.

To date, nearly 3,000 people have attended these presentations and more than 7,500 have visited the website.

EPA has been supportive of our efforts and keenly interested in the voluntary participation of the agriculture industry in promoting the safe handling and management of treated seed. It is critical that we report to EPA as many activities conducted to promote safe seed treatment stewardship - and how many people are reached - as possible.

Please take advantage of the wide variety of informational material on the website to copy, distribute or include in your internal and external communications.

Also, consider adding the language here or this badge to your company's website that will link visitors directly to the seed treatment guide site.

Please let us know what efforts you conduct and approximately how many people are reached (e.g. if you include the language here in an email to your customers or distribute the one-page flyer available on the website, please estimate the number of recipients).

If you have any questions, please contact Mary Emma Young (CLA). Please report all of your seed treatment stewardship outreach activities to Mary Emma as well.
