MORE CORN REJECTED FOR IMPORT IN CHINA
BrownfieldAgNews reports:

China has rejected another 21,800 metric tonnes of U.S. corn saying it contained the unapproved MIR 162 genetically modified trait.

Xinhua news agency reported the rejection was at the northern port of Tianjin. This raises the total to 908,800 metric tons rejected by the Chinese since November.

China's Biosafety Committee is scheduled to meet this week but it is not known if they will take-up Syngenta's request for approval of the GMO variety. If they don't, the next possible review would be in June.

Citing the China National Grain and Oils Information Center, Reuters says China imported 192,374 metric tonnes of non-GMO corn from Ukraine and 77,936 tonnes from Thailand in February.
