CROPLIFE AMERICA SUPPORTS FUTURE FARMERS ON NAT'L AG DAY
Source: CropLife America news release

CropLife America (CLA) today celebrates National Agriculture Day with organizations and individuals around the U.S., and demonstrates ongoing support for young adults currently engaged in agricultural programs, clubs or studies. The theme of this year's National Agriculture Day, "365 Sunrises and 7 Billion Mouths to Feed," honors today's farmers and ranchers while also raising awareness of literacy, education and vocational programs that encourage a prosperous future for American agriculture.

"National Agriculture Day provides an opportunity to celebrate the work of American farmers and ranchers, and the innovations that continue to support agriculture," reflected Jay Vroom, CLA's president and CEO.

"CLA and its member companies want to be sure that National Agriculture Day and all that it stands for continues to be an annual tradition by supporting upcoming generations of farmers and ranchers. We strive to engage directly with young adults and students who are gaining agricultural education and appreciation."

Coinciding with National Agriculture Day, CLA hosted a group of students currently studying agricultural policy at the University of Illinois to discuss CLA's efforts in supporting modern agriculture through innovative communications tactics and outreach to leaders on Capitol Hill. Twenty students attended the meeting and were accompanied by their instructor Jon Scholl, former president of American Farmland Trust.

A panel of undergraduate student presenters will be featured at the 2014 CLA & RISE (Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment) Spring Conference taking place April 9-11, 2014 in Arlington, VA.

The student representatives are part of this year's CLASS! (CropLife America for Student Success) initiative and will offer a millennial perspective on what they envision for the future of agriculture and the crop protection industry. This year's CLASS! is sponsored by FMC Corporation in conjunction with Agriculture Future of America (AFA).
