WORLD WILDLIFE FUND JOINS CENTER FOR FOOD INTEGRITY

World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has joined The Center for Food Integrity (CFI) and Dr. Jason Clay, WWF senior vice president of markets, will provide leadership as a member of the CFI board of directors.

"World Wildlife Fund is recognized as the global leader in environmental conservation," said Charlie Arnot, chief executive officer of CFI. "Dr. Clay's innovative work in agriculture, aquaculture, business and industry, finance, fisheries and forests, along with his market-based approach and ability to work with diverse stakeholders, has created new and meaningful opportunities to drive environmental improvement in agriculture and food production around the world."

Created in 1961, WWF is one of the world's leading conservation organizations, working in 100 countries for over half a century. With the support of almost 5 million members worldwide, WWF is dedicated to delivering science-based solutions to preserve the diversity and abundance of life on Earth, halt the degradation of the environment and combat climate change.

Clay's ideas are changing the way governments, foundations, researchers and NGOs identify and address risks and opportunities. He has convened industry roundtables of retailers, buyers, producers and environmentalists to reduce the key impacts of food production around the world.

He has run a family farm, taught at Harvard and Yale, worked at the U.S. Department of Agriculture and spent more than 25 years working with human rights and environmental organizations before joining WWF in 1999.

"Agriculture has more impact on the planet than any other human activity," said Clay. "We have to double the number of calories we produce on the land already in production if we want to feed a growing global population, protect our ecosystem and preserve bio-diversity. I look forward to working with CFI and its members to help achieve this critical goal."

CFI was established in 2007 to build consumer trust and confidence in today's food system. The not-for-profit organization has more than 140 members and project partners representing each segment of the food chain, including farmers and ranchers, universities, food processors, restaurants, retailers and food companies.
