PLANALYTICS PROVIDES CALIFORNIA DROUGHT UPDATE: LITTLE IMPROVEMENT IN SIGHT
Source: Planalytics news release

The northern part of California might have benefitted somewhat from rain and mountain snow in late February, but coming out of winter, the drought situation in this important agricultural region has not improved, and even worsened. According to the USDA's latest Drought Monitor, 95 percent of the State's drought status classification remains "Severe" to "Exceptional."

Another way of looking at the situation is to examine changes in drought classification since the late February rain and snow events; over the last eight weeks, there has been very little improvement in California drought classifications.

Changes in Drought Classification from February 4 to April 8, 2014
