KANSAS CITY AG BUSINESS COUNCIL ANNOUNCES ITS LEADERSHIP AND EXCELLENCE AWARD WINNERS
Source: Agricultural Business Council of Kansas City news release

On June 2 at the Chamber of Commerce Board Room in historic Union Station, the Agricultural Business Council of Kansas City will honor three of the region's leading business figures who have been civic champions for agriculture in separate but very key issue areas in our region.

"These individuals have had a positive and lasting effect on our community. They are strong examples of what being an advocate for agriculture can accomplish," says Mike Johanning, Chairman of the Agricultural Business Council of Kansas City.

The 2014 Award for Agricultural Leadership and Excellence, named in honor of the late Jay B. Dillingham, will be awarded to Barry Flinchbaugh, Professor Emeritus at Kansas State University, Bill Jackson, general manager, AGRIServices of Brunswick, and Jere White, recently retired as CEO of the Kansas Corn Commission.

Dr. Barry Flinchbaugh has been a leading voice in the development of U.S. agricultural policy. His service on numerous national task forces, boards of directors, and advisory groups has allowed him to provide leadership on domestic food and agriculture policy. This has included authoring ag policy textbooks, as well as advising many national policy makers, including U.S. Presidents', on agriculture.

Bill Jackson's leadership throughout the agricultural community has touched the lives of many and his tireless support of education, leadership development and agribusinesses whose work or organizations promote agriculture, is a true testament to his passion to promote agriculture.

Jere White, a local, state, national and international leader for agriculture, worked tirelessly to build new markets for corn and corn products throughout his career. He founded the Triazine Network, a national coalition of agricultural groups concerned with EPA's regulation of the triazine herbicides.

The June 2 event will be hosted at the Chamber of Commerce Board Room in Union Station (30 W Pershing Rd in Kansas City, MO) at 11:30 a.m. for networking and noon for lunch.

Tickets are $85 per person or $600 for a table of eight. Reservations can be made by contacting Erica Venancio at erica.venancio@agbizkc.com or by going to www.agbizkc.com.
