SO. DAKOTA SUPREME COURT PLACES BPI'S LAWSUIT AGAINST ABC ON HOLD
BrownfieldAgNews reports:

The South Dakota Supreme Court has granted a temporary stay in BPI's-Beef Products Incorporated's-defamation lawsuit against ABC News.

The chief justice of South Dakota's high court granted ABC's motion while the Supreme Court decides other legal issues raised by ABC's lawyers. The network is appealing a circuit court ruling that allowed the bulk of the suit to proceed to trial.

BPI has sued ABC for 1.2 billion dollars, saying the network damaged the meat company's business by using the words "pink slime" to describe its signature product, "lean, finely textured beef."
