HALF OF IOWA'S CORN ACREAGE PLANTED IN ONE WEEK
BrownfieldAgNews reports:

Optimal planting conditions last week in Iowa allowed almost half of the state's expected corn acreage to be planted.

As of Sunday, corn planting stood at 70 percent complete, equal to the normal pace. However, corn emergence, at nine percent, was 20 percentage points less than average.

Soybean planting was 20 percent complete, advancing 19 percentage points from last week and only two days behind normal.
