Source: National FFA Organization news release

David Schapker of Indianapolis has been named chief financial officer of the National FFA Organization and National FFA Foundation. In his role, he is responsible for the financial standing, performance and reporting of both the National FFA Organization and National FFA Foundation.

In January, the National FFA Organization's board of directors and National FFA Foundation's board of trustees approved a consolidated management structure that unifies both organizations' executive management through a joint governance committee of the two boards, chief executive officer and chief financial officer.

Previously, Schapker served as chief financial officer at Riley Children's Foundation, the fundraising organization for Riley Hospital for Children.

Schapker started his career with St. Louis-based Ralston Purina Co. and held a variety of financial management positions of increasing responsibility in corporate, subsidiary and spinoff organizations. From 1980-1998, he held titles of internal auditor, senior accountant, accounting supervisor, supervisor of financial reporting, manager of headquarters accounting, plant controller, project director and director of corporate accounting.

He and his family moved to Indianapolis in 1998 when he joined Golden Stream Quality Foods as the company's chief financial officer. He then joined Indianapolis-based NNC Group, now known as Stericycle, as the company's director of finance in 2002 before accepting the chief financial officer position with Riley Children's Foundation in 2008.

Originally from Evansville, Ind., Schapker earned a bachelor's degree in business-accounting from Indiana University and a master's in business administration-finance from St. Louis University.

The National FFA Organization provides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education to 579,678 student members in grades seven through 12 who belong to one of 7,570 local FFA chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
