FIVE OHIOANS INDICTED IN CROP INSURANCE FRAUD
BrownfieldAgNews reports:

A federal grand jury has indicted five Meigs County Ohio men for allegedly defrauding the federal Non-Insured Crop Assistance Program (NAP) of $1.5 million.

NAP provides financial assistance to producers of non-insurable crops when low yields, loss of inventory or prevented planting occur due to a natural disaster.

Named in the indictment are; Christopher T. Wolfe, Michael L. Johnson, Terry J. McNickle, Mark D. Wolfe and Joey L. Jerrell. Johnson is from Portland, Ohio, the other four are from Racine, Ohio.

They are charged with conspiracy, theft of public money and money laundering. The charges carry prison terms of up to 10 years.
