Nine states and five municipalities have joined Colorado, Louisiana, and the City and County of Denver in officially recognizing July 2014 as Smart Irrigation Month. Smart Irrigation Month is an industry-wide initiative to increase public awareness of the value of water-use efficiency during summer's peak demand.
New cities and states to join the current list of supporters include:
- Colorado - Mesa County
- Indiana - City of Carmel
- Indiana - City of Crown Point
- New Jersey
- Oklahoma - City of Oklahoma City
- Oklahoma - City of Tulsa
"Proclamations for Smart Irrigation Month add credibility to the industry's efforts to promote smart water use to our customers and business partners," said Lowell Kaufhold, chair of the Irrigation Association's Smart Irrigation Month Committee and president of CPS Distributors, Inc. (Westminster, Colo.). "Encouraging state and local governments to issue official proclamations is also an important grassroots tactic to educate the general public about local water issues."
To help promote the importance of water efficient products, practices and services in your community, consider working with other local businesses to encourage your state or municipality to proclaim July as Smart Irrigation Month.
