Dec. 11, 2009 Source: Association of Equipment Manufacturers news release Online voting by the Ag community is now open to help select the "Advocating for Agriculture Awards" winners. Deadline to vote is December 16. Winners get a free trip to the new Ag trade show, AG CONNECT Expo 2010, to be held in Jan. 2010 in Orlando, Fla. The "Advocating for Agriculture Awards" recognize those who support "in a compelling way the work of farmers and ranchers to provide abundant and affordable food and fiber." There are 15 finalists in the three award categories: Woman of the Year, Community Leadership, and Ag Innovation. AG CONNECT Expo 2010 will be held Jan. 13-15, 2010 (Preview Day Jan. 12 by special admission), at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. It will be a gathering place for those who advocate for and support production agriculture. Check out the show on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or YouTube. The grand prize winner in each of the three award categories will receive a free trip to AG CONNECT Expo 2010, including roundtrip airfare for two to Orlando, Fla., from anywhere in the continental U.S. Grand prize winners and runners-up will be announced Dec 18, 2009. The nominees for Ag Innovation are Christopher Callahan (Fayetteville, Ark.), Danny Day (Atlanta, Ga.), Jesse Dowell (Champaign, Ill.), Samuel Petty (Lubbock, Texas) and Eric Woodford (Redwood Falls, Minn.). The nominees for Community Leadership are Julie Brashear (Tampa, Fla.), Melinda Fruendt (Guthrie, Okla.), Gretchen Garth (Woodinville, Wash.), Fred Rogge (Washington, Kan.) and Dennis Treacy (Smithfield, Va.). The nominees for Ag Woman of the Year are Jolene Brown (West Branch, Iowa), Liz Doornink (Baldwin, Wis.), Annette McLane (Elizabeth, Ill.), Kaye Whitehead (Muncie, Ind.) and Janine Yorio (New York, N.Y.). |
