AGGATEWAY LAUNCHES AG INPUT PRICING UPDATE PROJECT Dec. 29, 2009 Source: AgGateway news release AgGateway, the agriculture industry eBusiness standards and implementation organization, has launched the Product Cost Information (PCI) Project with a kick-off meeting in Indianapolis. Project participants represent multiple industry segments and include manufacturers, distributors and retailers. The goal of the PCI Project is to standardize the process by which sellers transmit product cost information to buyers so that information can be electronically synchronized with minimal manual intervention. The proliferation of product SKUs and increased frequency of pricing changes are factors driving the need for standardization of this type of message between trading partners. "The PCI project represents another step forward by the agriculture industry to streamline its supply chain and moves the industry toward more effective product traceability enabled by electronic connectivity" says Rod Conner, president and CEO of AgGateway. "The project complements other electronic transactions already being used by AgGateway members. Current economic stresses have motivated our members to identify new ways to cut costs and improve operations. They are finding AgGateway's eBusiness technologies invaluable in accomplishing their objectives," adds Conner. The project is scheduled to be completed by August of 2010 with a minimum of four manufacturers and five distributors participating. Companies interested in participating in this project should contact Marilyn Hunter, AgGateway Projects Director, at 916/429-0509. |
