Commercially available sensors emit and capture reflected light and through various algorithms determine crop N need. These sensors can be mounted on fertilizer application equipment and guide variable N applications in real-time. John McGrath will discuss research on corn in the mid-Atlantic which revealed that an N savings of 20% could be achieved with sensor guided variable N application. Speaker: Joshua McGrath, PhD, Assistant Professor, University of Maryland Thursday, January 14, 2010 7:30 - 8:30 a.m. Untethered Farming: Wireless Technology and Agriculture Existing and emerging wireless technology is improving efficiency across the crop production chain.
