Weekly Comments: This past week saw choppy, directionless trade iin most of the agricultural futures markets. The exception was the soybean market, which posted solid gains on support from expectations for lower planted acreage. The star of the week was the November 2008 soybean contract, which surged nearly 48 cents on speculation smaller 2007 soybean production will require an increase in acreage in 2008. The 2008 corn contracts also rallied in an effort to keep pace with soybean prices. The corn market is in no mood to give back acreage with ethanol production continuing to expand at a strong pace.
