Weekly Comments: Weather set the tone for last week’s grain and soybean futures trade.  Wheat futures rallied strongly for the second week in a row as a hard freeze over Easter weekend spurred talk of crop losses. Corn futures turned extremely choppy amid increased uncertainty about planting prospects due to cool, wet Midwest weather. Soybean futures came under pressure from USDA’s larger U.S. carryout projection and higher South American production estimates. Cattle futures trade remained highly volatile, with prices plunging on speculative liquidation of long positions triggered by ideas of a seasonal peak in the beef market.
