Weekly Comments: The soybean market was a big mover last week with futures prices surging higher on rising concerns about lower U.S. acreage and weakness in the value of the dollar against the Brazilian real. Wheat futures went the opposite way, falling sharply late in the week on growing anticipation of a large southern Plains winter wheat harvest. Corn futures rallied sharply on Tuesday, but gave back the gains under pressure from favorable Midwest weather. Cotton futures rebounded strongly as oversold conditions and prospects for a U.S. ending stocks to fall significantly in 2007-08 sparked speculative short covering.
