Weekly Comments: It was a good week for grain and soybean futures, which posted solid gains on fresh commodity fund buying. Wheat futures led the way higher on growing concerns about tightening supplies and strong world demand. Strong technical buying was also generated after Minneapolis spring wheat futures surged above $10.00. Soybean futures found renewed support from strong demand and dry weather in Argentina, making new 34-year highs Friday. Corn futures followed wheat and soybean futures higher with help from rising hopes Congress would soon pass a new ethanol mandate. Live cattle futures were mostly higher on the week as speculators took profits on short positions after the previous week's declines. Hog futures were firm on indications the cash market has put in a seasonal low. Cotton futures were supported by higher grain prices and ideas the market was oversold.
