Comments: Most commodity markets found support early in the week from a sharply weaker dollar, but a rebound by the dollar on Friday undid some of that support. Soybean futures still posted further strong gains on support from technical short covering, South American weather concerns and strong export demand. Corn futures edged higher, but saw gains limited by concerns about continued slow demand. Wheat futures found additional support from fears of winter-kill damage to the U.S. HRW wheat crop and further crop problems in the Southern Hemisphere. Live cattle futures were boosted by speculative short covering and position evening ahead of Friday's monthly cattle-on-feed report, which came in neutral for prices. Lean hog futures were pressured by further seasonal weakness in cash hog and wholesale pork prices. Click on the Brock logo or call 1-800-558-3431 for more info on our services. |
