Comments: Soybean futures extended their rally last week on further technical buying, ongoing South American weather concerns and continued strong export demand from China. Corn and wheat futures followed soybeans higher as the building battle for 2009 acreage overshadowed continued weak demand for both grains. Pre-holiday/year-end position evening was supportive across the grain/soy complex. Live cattle futures started the week strongly on support from speculative short covering, but gave back gains on Friday amid disappointing Plains cash trade. Lean hog futures came under increasing pressure from falling cash hog and wholesale pork prices as hog supplies remained ample to meet holiday-reduced demand. Cotton futures were boosted by year-end position evening and the strength in grain futures. Click on the Brock logo or call 1-800-558-3431 for more info on our services.
