Comments: Grain and soybean futures trade grew more volatile last week as overbought conditions and renewed worries about the health of the general economy spurred speculative profit taking on long positions. However, soybean futures wound up posting further large gains on support from dry conditions in Argentina and continued strong Chinese buying of U.S. soybeans. Demand worries kept a lid on corn prices, but wheat futures were boosted by technical buying and expectations for USDA to report a drop in U.S. winter wheat seedings. Live cattle futures fell victim to renewed worries about beef demand spurred by bearish U.S. employment data. Hog futures were also pressured by demand concerns despite stronger cash hog and wholesale pork prices. Click on the Brock logo or call 1-800-558-3431 for more info on our services.
