Comments: Corn and soybean futures were pressured early in the week by improved rains in Argentina, the weak world economy and technical selling, but rebounded strongly Thursday and Friday as drier Argentine weather forecasts caused speculators to cover short positions. Wheat futures were pressured by disappointing demand news, but found support from continued dryness in the U.S. southern Plains and northern China. The cotton market consolidated with poor demand offsetting support from lower crop expectations. Live cattle futures were boosted by technical buying and expectations for cattle supplies to tighten, while lean hog futures followed cash hog markets lower under pressure from weak pork prices and negative packer operating margins.
