Comments: Last week was a choppy one for grain and soybean futures as uncertainty about planting weather and demand kept traders unsure of market direction. Prices came under heavy pressure on Monday from technical selling and weak outside markets, but soybean futures continued to find support from Chinese demand while planting delays propped corn and wheat prices. Live cattle futures were pressured by indications a seasonal high for wholesale beef price and cash cattle prices was at hand, while lean hog futures were pressured by their premium to cash as pork market declines and negative packer operating margins spurred doubts about demand. Cotton futures continued to rise on speculative short covering and better-than-expected export demand. Click on the Brock logo or call 1-800-558-3431 for more info on our services.
