Comments: Corn and soybean futures remained under pressure last week from expectations for large U.S. crops spurred by favorable crop conditions and mild Midwest weather. Further price weakness was limited, however, by oversold market conditions and continued strong Chinese demand for U.S. soybeans. Wheat futures rebounded on technical short covering spurred by oversold market conditions, signs of improvement in the general economy and waning winter wheat harvest pressure. Livestock futures were stronger, with live cattle futures surging amid expectations for tightening supplies of market-ready to drive cash markets higher. Lean hog futures were pushed higher by a strong rebound in wholesale pork prices as packers trimmed production. Cotton futures extended their rally on technical buying and dry conditions in Texas.
