Comments: Soybean futures turned higher again last week, while most other agricultural commodities treaded water amid an absence of major fundamental news. Nearby Sep. soybeans soared on tight old-crop supplies, strong Chinese demand and prospects for a late harvest, while deferred futures gains were limited by improved crop ratings and the lack of an immediate crop threat. Corn futures chopped around in a narrow range as concerns about slow crop development and firm cash prices offset pressure from large yield potential, while wheat futures found light support from speculative profit taking. Livestock futures action was mixed with lean hog futures also finding some support from speculative profit taking amid steady cash prices. Live cattle futures lost ground, however, on technical selling and expectations for weaker cash trade this week. Click on the Brock logo or call 1-800-558-3431 for more info on our services. |
