Comments: It was an up and down week for grain and soybean futures with prices fading after a Tuesday frost scare as forecasts removed the threat. Soybean futures still managed to gain ground on support from fresh Chinese demand and Delta harvest delays, but corn futures gave back all of their Tuesday gains as harvest pressure mounted. Wheat futures faded with the corn market, remaining under pressure from bearish supply/demand fundamentals, while cotton futures rallied strongly on speculative buying spurred by weakness in the value of dollar and heavy Delta rains. Live cattle futures were pressured by weaker-than-expected Plains cash trade and fears of a bearish cattle-on-feed report. Friday's report was mildly bearish, pegging the Sept. 1 feedlot inventory in the upper end of expectations. Live hog futures were hit by expectations for seasonal supply increases to weigh on cash markets. Click on the Brock logo or call 1-800-558-3431 for more info on our services.
