Comments: Grain and soybean futures last week reversed the strong gains of the previous week, tumbling despite continued harvest delays and uncertainty about crop production. Forecasts for the Midwest to turn dry in early November pressured prices along with a rebound in the value of the dollar and sharp losses in crude oil futures. Wheat futures led the way down as that market's bearish supply/demand fundamentals came home to roost. Livestock futures were mixed with live cattle futures turning lower on ideas of a seasonal cash market top, while lean hog futures surged higher on strong wholesale pork prices and news that China has pledged to drop its ban on U.S. pork. Cotton futures held firm with continued bad weather in the Delta region resulting in falling crop expectations. Click on the Brock logo or call 1-800-558-3431 for more info on our services.
